For people who have not read the books, the series is all about the 'hunger games' but for those, like me, who have read the books it is about the revolution.
Quite a few people were disappointed when they watched the 2nd part which had very little of the hunger games. That's what I thought the initial bad reviews were all about- people who didn't understand what the story is all about and only want to see the games. But when I couldn't find even 1 good review I decided to skip it in the theatre and wait for a good online print. The print wasn't great but it was watchable.
The director/producer had 2 options:
- This could have been a fast paced action flick combining both parts
- This could have been like Twilight. Slow, sappy, boring
Unfortunately, it is the second one. There is lots and lots of crying in the movie.
Katniss Everdeen, played by Jennifer Lawrence, is in District 13. At the end of part 2, there was an explosion in the arena and most of the victors had escaped to District 13. They are now working on a revolution to overthrow the Capitol and kill President Rose. They want Katniss to be the face of the revolution to encourage people in other districts to revolt. Initially, she refuses but when she realizes Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) is still stuck at the Capitol and being used by Snow to quell the rebellion she agrees on the condition that he will be rescued. She inspires the other districts to rebel and they manage to get Peeta back only because Snow does not resist. Bur Peeta has been brain washed into hating and wanting to kill her.
That's where it ends.
I really missed Haymitch (Woody Harrelson). He added humour in the previous movies but in this one, his role is minor.
It's worth a miss in the theatre and am not looking forward to the next part.
