I watched this movie on the flight yesterday. I had read decent reviews when it released. According to the promotions before it released, the movie was supposedly based on the Aarushi Talwar case. In fact, the Talwars had gone to court to stay its release.
The movie stars Kay Kay Menon, Ashish Vidyarthi, Tisca Chopra, Mita Vasisht, Kunal Sharma, Ashwini Kalsekar and Sakshi Sem.
It starts with Ayesha Mahajan (Sakshi) being found dead in her house in the morning by the governess Remi (Ashwini) when only she and Ayesha's father Dr Sachin (Ashish) are in the house. The mother- Dr Arti arrives from Pune in the morning to discover cops at the house and her daughter dead.
*Logical question 1 : Why was she not informed immediately about her daughter's death? I mean, she has a phone na*
The cops arrest Dr Sachin because he has scratch marks on his body and the cut on Ayesha's neck looks like it was made by a doctor.
*At this stage I wanted to turn it off but I decided to wait for Kay Kay Menon's entry*
The case is transferred to CBI and CBI Officer Sunil Paraskar (Kay Kay Menon) starts investigating.
Sunil comes with lots of flaws:
- He likes to eat walnuts and that is quite annoying
- His wife pressurizing him to take bribes is another major irritant and does not contribute to the story at all
- He works only with one assistant. Both of them go everywhere and for everything. I didn't know CBI works in a twosome on any case
Anyway, the movie has a lot of twists and turns and the person who is not investigated or suspected at all turns out to be the killer. Which is weird. I don't understand the point of wasting my 2 hours over an investigation. In the end, conveniently, Sunil knows exactly what happened to Ayesha even though they didn't show him investigating half of it.
Also, all the witnesses or clues end up dying and Sunil does not bother to investigate who killed them.
Terrible movie. Tisca is very screechy in the bits and parts. Kay Kay Menon is quite annoying. Thankfully, there are no songs or item numbers. The whole movie is shot in dark houses. I don't know why there are no lights in the houses and why are there white curtains drawn even at 6 am.
But the most annoying thing is the racism. A Bihari talks with a Bihari accent and a Marathi with a Marathi accent. Because how else will we know that someone is from Bihar or Maharashtra?
Avoid.
