Finding Fanny

I watched this flick last weekend but have taken my own sweet time to write the review. Because I have been ill.. and lazy... and not sure what to write.
The movie stars Deepika Padukone, Dimple Kapadia, Pankaj Kapur, Naseeruddin Shah and Arjun Kapoor.

I had the misfortune of watching this movie last night. I was actually looking forward to it after people's reviews on facebook and also critics' reviews. But don't worry, there is one honest blog which says it like it is (C'mon... I am allowed some self importance atleast on my own blog).

What I loved about Kai Po Che was that the movie enhanced the book... the book was crap, shoddy, un researched, very simple. Thats my grouse with the new crop of writers... there is no depth and the characters are too simple. I was expecting something similar with this movie... that the director- Abhishek Varman (never heard of him) would enhance the book.

In the first 20 mins of the movie all the characters are introduced. I was happy with the fast pace since it works well in crime thrillers. The story is about 2 families- one of cops and another of criminals. Arjun Kapoor is in a double role... 1 is in cop family and another in criminals' family. 1 is exchanged with another to bring the criminals' downfall. Unfortunately, everyone is involved in criminal activities.
The 1st half is fast paced and very good. The 2nd half goes into typical 'Bollywood' territory... too many emotions... too many people killing each other...
