Tanu Weds Manu

I didn't remember much about this movie and decided to watch it yesterday. The sequel would make more sense if I refreshed the memories about the first one.

The movie is directed by Anand L. Rai and stars Kangana Ranaut, R. Madhavan, Deepak Dobriyal, Swara Bhaskar, Jimmy Shergill, and Eijaz Khan. 

I started watching it and all the memories of hating this flick came back to me. It is a surprise I liked the sequel considering how shoddy this one is.

There were no reviews of this movie on rediff.com or film companion youtube channel till last evening. I was not very impressed with the first part. In fact, I don't remember watching the entire flick. So there was no chance I was going to spend money on this one. But then reviews on twitter from people who I follow and who follow me back convinced me and we watched it today.

It has been directed by Anand L. Rai and stars Kangana Ranaut in a double role, R. Madhavan, Jimmy Shergill, Deepak Dobriyal and Sawara Bhaskar.

Let me make it very clear that I am biased while reviewing this flick. The casting is oh-so-amazing.

• Neil Bhoopalam : I love.. love.. love... LOVE... this guy. He was super awesome in Hamlet : The Clown Prince. What you see in the movie is not even 5% of his actual talent
• Randeep Hooda : Super hot. There was a time when this guy couldn't act... he used to be very wooden. Not anymore
• Emraan Hashmi : 5 years back if someone had said I would be his fan and watch his movies I would have laughed to their face. Not anymore. 
• Kangana Ranaut : One of my favorite actresses
• Angad Bedi : I remember him from the 'Emotional Atyachaar' days. He had hosted the first season
• Sanjay Dutt : For once he is playing his age... and looking his age.
• Arunoday Singh : Ok... so he is in a coma... but hell, its Arunoday. Give him anyway in a movie and I will watch it
• Neha Dhupia : She is hot... and she can act. 

Revolver Rani

I like Kangna... I always have... since Gangster days. A fabulous dressing sense always helps. Sure, her voice is a little grating... her pronunciation needs improvement but atleast she can act. Thats more than what I can say about 80% of the actresses today. I didn't watch Revolver Rani in the theatre... am not THAT big a fan but I did catch it on my laptop.

This movie is very important... and the fact that it released right after Queen is significant. You realize how much depends on the director. He/She can make a good actor/actress ham or act. You know where am going with this.

I watched this flick on Friday night after reading all the reviews and well, loved it.

Kangana has killed it. But, let me not get ahead of myself. 

Lets start at the beginning.

Shootout at Wadala

We watched this movie over the weekend. It was a week late but it wasn't a movie I was very much looking forward to... I didn't mind watching it a week late or catching it on TV.

The movie is about a small time gangster Manya Surve and is loosely based on the book by Hussain Zaidi- 'From Dongri to Dubai'.
What I was looking forward to was John's new avatar... specially since he has garnered good reviews.
What is the story? The usual... good boy turns bad due to injustice meted out to him... becomes a small time gangster and is killed by the good cops.

What makes it entertaining is:
- Excellence actors like John, Anil Kapoor, Ronit Roy etc
- 2 item songs
- Lets admit it... anything related to gangsters is entertaining
