Tanu Weds Manu

I didn't remember much about this movie and decided to watch it yesterday. The sequel would make more sense if I refreshed the memories about the first one.

The movie is directed by Anand L. Rai and stars Kangana Ranaut, R. Madhavan, Deepak Dobriyal, Swara Bhaskar, Jimmy Shergill, and Eijaz Khan.

I started watching it and all the memories of hating this flick came back to me. It is a surprise I liked the sequel considering how shoddy this one is.

Manu (Madhavan) is a London returned doctor looking for a bride. He is too much of a loser to find someone himself and escorted to Kanpur to see Tanu (Kangana). When he meets Tanu she is drunk (he does not know that) and so high she does not even open her eyes. He proceeds to kiss her cheek (super cringe at that) and then agrees to marry her.... without speaking to her even once. Sounds just like an Indian arranged marriage. Tanu is mind boggled and rightly thinks of him as a loser and asks him to cancel the wedding since she has a boyfriend. He does so and then meets many other females for marriage, one among them being Raja's (Jimmy) sister. Tanu and Manu bump into each other at Payal (Swara) and Jassi's (Eijaz) wedding. Sparks fly. Manu is besotted with her while Tanu is just flirting.

Manu helps her get married to Raja even though he loves her. He convinces her father and then tells her about his feelings. This pisses off Raja but Tanu picks Manu over Raja. And I don't know why. How can 2 people get married without even dating each other? What is wrong with the director?

I hate Kangana's make up in the movie. Is that a lip plumper? Why are lips looking so weird. What is wrong with her hair? This is one of her worst movies and I hated it. Not worth my time.
