Chittagong

This has been on my must watch list for quite sometime. I finally downloaded and watched it.

The movie is set in 1929 in Chittagong (now a part of Bangladesh). It is based on facts. In fact, the protagonist- Jhunku (Delzad Hiwale/Vijay Verma) was alive when the movie was made. It is about the uprising in Chittagong led by a school teacher (Manoj Bajpai) and his band of young rebels (all below 18). They beat the British... not once but twice. Of course, they got caught. Manoj Bajpai is hung while the others are sent to Andamans (kaala paani) jail. On getting released, Jhunku takes up the cause again and in the process loses the love of his life.

I didn't get bored for a moment... the pace is good, all the actors (many of them new) are natural. It is unbelievable that the events actually happened. Teenagers had so much courage and were willing to give up their life for a cause. Such a far cry from today's world.

The movie stars Nawazuddin, Raj Kumar Yadav among others. Anurag Kashyap is one of the producers. Shankar Ehsaan Loy have given the music... and it is amazing. It has been directed by Bedabrata Pain.

There is another movie on the same topic- Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey but it is horrible...
This is how a movie is made. Are you listening- Ashutosh Govarikar?

A good movie does not need highly paid actors... it just needs people who can act.
